Beautifully detailed hummingbird getting a sweet drink from a rose done in scratch art by Marye Wagoner. She says that this particular piece is one of her all time favorites and we can see why.  Marye studies photographs of birds and other wildlife to capture every feather, color, and texture accurately. Framed in a black frame with with white matting.

Marye has been creating scratch art for decades, honing her skill and perfecting her eye. Her favorite subjects are wildlife, especially birds, and she pays close attention to every detail to get colors accurate and true to life.

Marye uses a special stylus to etch her designs on to a black matte foreground allowing the white paper backing to come through. To get colors saturated on to the print, she experimented with many different mediums to get the best results, and discovered that india ink was the best for the effect she wanted to create. Each piece is truly an original.
